Bennett cements England selection

Carla Bennett has been selected for the England korfball squad to compete at the World Championships in November.

Her selection follows her international debut during friendly matches in Belgium last month, after becoming the first Cambridge player to break into the England senior squad.

Bennett started in both matches, against Flanders and Antwerp, in which England coach Dirk Sercu said she "fulfilled the coaches expectation with honour".

The 27-year-old Cambridge City Korfball Club player is one of about 10 girls and 11 boys from around the country selected in the squad.

England have been drawn against the Czech Republic, Hungary and India in their initial World Championship pool. Their first game is against India on 1 November.
