Cambridge City Korfball 2008

Norfolk Korfball Tournament

NORFOLK KORFBALL TOURNAMENT 2010
Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th July

Saturday

Players - Rob N/John R/John E/Hannah + Lucy (Phoenix)/Natalie (Phoenix)/Abby (Phoenix)

An eventful day beginning at Midday and ending at 6pm.  City were placed in Pool B and played a total of eight 15 mins games - so a lot of korfball!!!

We were competing against a lot of good quality teams who fielded several National League players inc Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham, Norwich, Trojans and the Wales National side (who had Jack and Clara in their ranks)

Despite our best efforts City lost all 8 games but were competitive in the majority of them.  HIghlights included a Phoenix inspired goal after conceding against Trojans and a couple of trademark Hannah running in shots!

Weather was generally fine but very windy.  Regrettably, the winds picked up, as a storm brewed, whilst City were playing and despite the best efforts of Norwich Dragons and Tigers our Gazebo didn't survive!!

Thanks for Saturday
To Hannah /John R/someone from Phoenix for Driving
Rob / Hannah / John R - for Refereeing
Natalie / Abby / Lucy - For sourcing a spare male player for each game
Jack for playing for City when he could

Sunday

Players - Rob N / John E / John R / Stuart / Mary / Nicki / Sam / Jude

Despite the fresh legs, City did everything they could to secure a win on day two.  Again most of the games were competitive but sadly, we were unable to record a victory.   The weather remained fine if a little windy and we missed having the Gazebo to provide us with shelter - although we managed.

Special mention to Nicki for her storming 4 goals on the Sunday to be the leading scorer for City at the tournament.

Thanks for Sunday
Rob N / Stuart / Sam for driving
Carla for babysitting Amelia so Nicki could play
Various UEA players who played for us so we always had a babysitter

We left before the presentations but having failed to secure a victory over the two days - City must have been a valiant last.

Despite everything, I believe everyone enjoyed the experience - it was a good quality tournament and we shouldn't be despondent with the outcome.

Cheers

Rob
