First game after the Christmas rest, with an away game against Phoenix. City started well with Pieter and Bayley scoring with short shots after 3 minutes. Alex’s division were slower to find the target, but Gavin made it 3-0 after 11minutes. Phoenix scored a short shot (3-1) and made a substitute to restrict Bayley’s play. Phil’s division worked hard against tight marking and Pieter score a long shot before half time (4-1)

Phoenix quickly scored in the second half, then Alex sunk two long shots (6-2) and Bayley got two more to make in 8-2. Phoenix managed to raise they game and scored 2 quick goals, then 2 more (8-6). Pieter gave a free pass away which was converted (8-7). In the last minute of the match, the referee blew up City for holding on the ball and Phoenix duly holed a long shot with seconds remaining.

City lost focus in the last 10 minutes, which lost them a point - the curse of using the yellow and blue ball again….
